Announcing a New Probely Chapter, As We Join Snyk's Family

I'm thrilled to announce some very exciting news: Probely has just been acquired by Snyk, a leader in developer security.

As a very significant milestone in our journey, I want to personally share some thoughts about what this means for you -- our customers, partners, friends -- and moving forward, for us.

The aspect about this deal that thrills me the most is the fact that Snyk and Probely have a shared vision for developer-first security. We built Probely, right from the beginning, with a very clear mission: we wanted to empower developers to build secure APIs and web applications, without compromising the speed of delivery and their efficiency. We've always had the deeply ingrained belief that security should be an integral part of the development process, and not just an afterthought.

So, as soon as we started meeting with Snyk, we understood that we had found the perfect partner, as we share the same philosophy.

Whereas in the past Snyk always focused their approach on securing the code, Probely chose a different path, instead testing security on running applications. The approaches don't have to be dissonant, though, and are actually complementary. For Snyk, our DAST made more sense than before because it was much more aligned with their "Shift-Left" approach.

And Snyk got us: they understood what made us tick, and what makes us special. Both Tiago, our CTO, and I, as well as everyone else in the amazing group of co-founders, had been on the other side of the fence, so to say: we'd all been, in some shape or form, working with or managing development teams; and we'd all jumped over that fence to the side of Application Security.

You see, we now know that Snyk and Probely are a perfect fit: our shared mindsets are that we want to give power, knowledge, and the right tools to help developers build secure web applications and APIs, the backbone of the online world and of this brave new world of GenAI and LLMs. But we want to do it in a way that avoids disruption to the development teams, with tools and platforms that integrate as seamlessly as possible into their workflows.

We want our tools to operate where development teams operate, without removing them from their environment, without becoming a distraction, but rather an enhancement and a way to foster collaboration for best practices.

Again, we believe that Snyk shares this philosophy, wholeheartedly. This was the core aspect that made our decision so much easier, because we built Probely based on the deep understanding of those two sides of the fence, so we could help destroy that fence altogether: to bring dev and security teams closer together.

And then, our decision to join Snyk was driven by much more than just strategic alignment, as it was also about an amazing cultural fit, with a wealth of shared values. At the end of it all, the Snyk and Probely teams are truly passionate about making security accessible, manageable, and beneficial for developers and security teams alike.

By joining forces with Snyk and combining our expertise, we believe we are bringing a disruptive proposition to the market: a truly comprehensive AppSec platform that will be a beacon of what's possible in the realm of Application Security.

In the next few months, we expect to be working diligently towards integrating Probely's capabilities into the Snyk platform, with a more unified experience that benefits security throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

We will also keep our unwavering commitment to our community. We want to assure everyone that our commitment to excellence in both our product and service will remain the same. And the very Probely team you know and trust will continue to provide the same level of expertise, dedication, and support.

We built Probely to help the community at large be successful with their AppSec programs, and that is something that will not change. Actually, by becoming part of something bigger, we believe that we will just be able to help the community even better, to take our vision to new heights.
